There is nothing better than having a few jars of apple pie filling sitting around when you just gotta have that apple pie asap;) Just grab the apple pie filling, a pie crust and you are good to go! And I can’t say this enough, homemade is just so gooood….
I usually use water, fruit, sugar, and cornstarch for a basic pie filling. This pie filling tho… it involves apples fresh from the orchard, unsweetened spiced apple cider, hard cider, and cinnamon. Which makes it so yummy good:)
Ingredients
- 10 to 12 med. to large apples peeled , cored, and sliced
- 2 cups spiced apple cider (I used unsweetened)
- 1 cup hard cider (opt.)
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Pour prepared apples into a medium sized stock pot.
- Add the ciders, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
- Cook over medium to low heat until liquid starts to thicken and coats a spoon.
- Store in refrigerator up to two weeks.
